EXPO2010: Nanotechnology to become a new symbol of the Czech Republic at Shanghai Exhibition
At EXPO2010 in Shanghai, the Czech Republic’s leadership in nanotechnology, and particularly within nanofibers, will be show-cased through a joint presentation between Elmarco company and the “iQ park” science center, both of Liberec, Czech Republic. EXPO2010 will be the first time the Czech Republic demonstrates its strong position in nanotechnology innovation at an international event.
Central to the Czech Republic’s pavilion at Shanghai 2010 is a giant sculptured recreation of the process that enables Elmarco’s NanospiderTM production process. Fibers rise from a huge reservoir made of glass, which contains the cylindrical electrode, “coating” the globe model of the earth placed over the visitor’s heads. This picture symbolizes the possible nanofiber benefits for improving of human life quality on Earth.
“As we are going to point during the Czech National Day on Monday, May 17, the Czech Republic is known for our creativity, imagination and skill – all of these combine in our Shanghai Exhibition. Execution of our industry-leading nanofiber technology is included. Nanofibers open undreamt possibilities today in all fields of human activity and it is great the Czech company is the global leader in this industry,“ explained Jiří F. Potužník, PR Manager of Commissioner General Office of the participation of the Czech Republic at the World Exposition EXPO 2010.
The revolutionary NanospiderTM electrospinning technology was developed by Elmarco on the basis of an invention that was first created at the Technical University of Liberec (TUL). The principle of NanospiderTM is very simple: fibers 200 times thinner than a human hair are created on the surface of a cylindrical electrode without any usage of nozzles from a polymer. Elmarco has pioneered the production of robust electrospinning machines, which are applicable both for laboratory research and full-scale industrial production. Elmarco is the only manufacturer of such machines in the world.
„Hundreds of companies and universities in many countries worldwide currently work on applications enabled by Elmarco’s equipment. By working with nanofibers, they make current products more environmentally friendly and improve the quality of life for all people. Nanofiber materials enable energy-saving filters suitable for air purification or drinking water treatment, more powerful solar cells or batteries and unique materials for faster and more effective wound care or substitution of damaged tissues and many other applications... This exhibit of the nanofiber-enabled world demonstrates possible applications to the general public to increase their understanding of the technical prowess of the Czech Republic in nanotechnology,” explained Ladislav Mareš, the Director and founder of Elmarco company.
Elmarco is the industry's first supplier of industrial scale nanofiber production equipment. Partnerships with global industrial leaders and universities form the foundation for success of the company. Elmarco's unique NanospiderTM technology is designed for ease of use, scalability, modularity and flexibility in producing the highest quality nanofibers. In addition Elmarco uses its logistic and engineering knowledge, as well as the favorable location, to offer cost effective, high-end manufacturing outsource services for equipment and subsystems, with a focus on the semiconductor industry. The company global headquarters are based in Liberec, Czech Republic, other two sales and services offices are based in Morrisville, USA, and in Tokyo, Japan. Elmarco employees about 250 people worldwide, including 45 R&D specialists. For further information, please visit www.elmarco.com.
